Everybody has been observing for the debut of the Overwatch League, and every one the pieces are currently in place for its December preseason. On the other hand, the Overwatch League has ever been meant to be the highest portion of a larger ecosystem. The new system will be a lot larger, with the opportunity for anyone (even you?!) To battle their way out of online solo drama to being able to play in the aggressive Contenders circuit.
STARTING SMALL Every participant with a copy of Overwatch can compete in rated play. As soon as they reach the greatest ranks, they'll be qualified for the Open Division. Open Division teams will be placed in a championship, against equally ranked teams. The notion here is a gentle group of gamers stepping onto the pro point for the very first time won't be put against the meanest, leanest squad to fall just short of their Overwatch League. The groups that triumph in the Open Division will input the Contender Trials. A WHOLE NEW CONTENDERS At the heart of this system are the recently expanded Overwatch Contenders lineup of tournaments -- which enable both skilled and amateur teams to compete against one another on a slightly smaller scale compared to the Overwatch League. What started as championships which were limited to just North America and Europe is going to be enlarged to encompass seven total regions. Tournaments that were formerly different from Blizzard's ecosystem, such as Overwatch APEX at Korea, Overwatch Premier Series at China and Overwatch Pacific will all be linking as Contenders Korea, Contenders China and Contenders Pacific respectively. These five present tournaments will be joined by two new areas, Australia and South America, to constitute Overwatch Contenders. The Contenders tournament will continue to concentrate on allowing amateur teams and players the chance to display their skills and compete at the highest level by providing an Open Division that will allow participants that may not have major sponsorships to combine the tournament. This Open Division will culminate in the Contenders Trials, which commence in February, also will allow the best four teams from each area's Open Division to compete in an eight team marketing relegation tournament for a chance to play in Overwatch Contenders. But these professional players could easily find their place as overwatch boosters. We'll learn more details about this brand new system in December, along with the launch of the Overwatch League's inaugural preseason.
